Fujifilm is having a great year. The company launched the new gears during the X Summit, and their fiscal year sales report shows an upward trend now. In fact, with the improvement of the GFX lineup, the company is also gearing towards catering to premium users. Amidst this, the Fujifilm Instax series also deserves a shout-out. They have successfully captured the entry-level and mid-tier segments with their exciting products, especially enticing the younger generation. They are now furthering this development with a new partnership with Google.
The New Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 3
Fujifilm USA is collaborating with Google to launch a new Instax Mini Link 3 variant for a Google Pixel collaboration. This means that the new device will come in a new color called Rose Quartz, which is also a color variant of the recently launched Google Pixel 9 Pro. The new Google Pixel Mini Link variant has been designed to be used with Google’s Fast Pair technology, thus pairing the Mini Link 3 to the Pixel 9 Pro via Bluetooth.

According to Imaging Division president Bing Liem, this move will allow Pixel 9 Pro users to pair their devices easily and create “lasting memories” with their phones. The Mini Link 3’s features allow users to customize images through the Instanx Mini Link 3 app and print photos instantly.
The Instax Mini Link is not any different than the previous model they released this year. The only difference is that the collaboration allows Google Pixel users to get the joys of printing their images. The printer is available at $129.95 at Fujifilm stores.
It’s a Brilliant Strategy
I may diss Google Pixel 9 Pro for all the terrible AI features they have included, but one has to applaud Fujifilm’s efforts. Thanks to the rise of cell phones, every statistic points out the end of the camera market. A layperson will choose a multitasking device over a camera, and that’s a fact we have to face. But, by catering to that segment, telling them they can instantly have gorgeous prints. This will certainly attract many people, especially Gen Z, who love the idea of film-like aesthetics. In this way, Fujifilm will reach out to a much larger audience and expand its Instax base.
In addition, enthusiasts or serious photographers using Google will also use the device to showcase their works. As we wrote in our review of the Instax Mini Link 3: ” Every time that I’ve brought it out to show people the work that I do, it opens up more doors for me than it does when they’re looking at my Instagram. So, instead of using my social media, I use the printed album and my personal website — which I update very often. And this is so much better for me because it doesn’t attribute a number to me or my work. Art isn’t really about numbers; it’s about expressing feelings. Instax prints give people a different feeling than what they see on Instagram.”
Through Tikok and its compact rangefinder cameras, Fujifilm has tapped into a new market of younger creators. With a new partnership with Google, they will certainly open up newer doors and avenues. In a market that is already saturated, Fujifilm is finding ways to reach out to more customers through varied channels. This will certainly reap rewards in the next fiscal year.
