On its own, the Nikon F3 remains a popular model of the iconic Nikon F line of cameras, with vintage camera collectors and Nikon fans seeking to make it a core member of their collection. Make it a rare, special edition and you have an even more lusted after camera that you’d best be ready to spend a handsome sum for. A perfect example is this Nikon F3/T Classic that we recently spotted, still in its original packaging and in new condition.
The pristine Nikon F3/T Classic, listed by Tennessee-based eBay seller santaiscomingtotown, comes with a matching 50mm f1.2 AI-S lens. One of the rarest of the special edition models, this unit and lens set is marked #65. It also still comes with all the accessories and included paperwork. Now is your chance to own one of only 100 made and all it takes is $4,000.
According to a correspondence published by mir.com.my, the Nikon F3/T Classic was produced by Nikon for the 50th anniversary of their partnership with Ando Camera of Japan, one of their oldest camera dealers. The F3/T itself is a special model, being the titanium version of the F3HP or High Point camera. It weighs 20 grams less than the regular F3 and initially came in a rare “champagne” natural titanium finish introduced in 1982 (and discontinued in 1985), then later in black.
The name of the dealer and the commemorative text are also stenciled on the back of the camera–a detail you may not be keen on and the only detail you may want to put into consideration.
