With a 40mm fixed focal length, ZEISS’ newest lens is said to be “the most versatile” in the Batis family.
November is already shaping up to be a great month for avid fans of ZEISS lenses as the latest in the Batis family, the ZEISS Batis 40mm f2 CF (Close Focus), is set to start shipping out that month. This new standard lens has a 40 mm fixed focal length and features a quick autofocus and an extremely short minimum focus distance. ZEISS claims that it’s the “most versatile” in the ZEISS Batis family, which means that its focal length makes it perfect for use in various situations “from portrait and street photography to landscape and architecture.”
The ZEISS Batis 2/40 CF “bridges the gap” between the ZEISS Batis 2/25 and ZEISS Batis 1.8/85 and falls between the standard 35 and 50 mm lenses.
Per Dr. Michael Pollman, Category Manager for Imaging at ZEISS:
“The lens is excellent for applications requiring normal focal lengths as well as common photographic situations where a bit more of a wide angle is needed. Our customers will enjoy a truly versatile lens which, thanks to its proven ZEISS look, and an outstanding image quality, is also ideal for close-ups. If you’re traveling light and decide to opt for just one lens, then this would be it.”
Like all ZEISS Batis lenses, the ZEISS Batis 2/40 CF was developed specifically for Sony mirrorless cameras (Alpha 7 and Alpha 9 series) and is compatible with all E-mount cameras.
