See In The Dark With FLOVEL’s New FZ-B1

by Bobby Zhang on 10/08/2012

Japanese company FLOVEL has announced its newest high-sensitivity HD camera, the FZ-B1, during the 2012 IBC Show last month. Partnering with FOR-A Corp, FLOVEL plans to ship its new high-end security cameras internationally beginning next month.

The FZ-B1 features a 2/3 inch CMOS 1.3 megapixel sensor capable of recording in 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 720p/60p and 720p/50p formats. However, that isn’t what is so impressive about it. It is the fact that it will record video at low-lighting of up to a 0.01 lux sensitivity, meaning light as dim as just moonlight will be sufficient for the FZ-B1.

Most of us probably won’t need such high quality cameras, but its capabilities and functionality allow for some high end resolution and video production. As I mentioned, this would primarily be for security and government use for surveillance.

I say that us common folk wouldn’t normally want this is also due to the fact that the starting price is $30,000. Even though most of us can think of probably a million other things to buy with $30,000, we thought we’d put this up anyways just as a tease. Enjoy.

Let’s not for get that $10k+ Fujinon lens you see attached. I’m sure the $30,000 price is “body only”. Really though a Super35 or so sensor with a fast prime comes pretty close to this–especially down sized to 720p.
