The Sony a7R IV promised big results, but at a cost. These photographers prove it’s worth every penny.
When the Sony a7R IV was announced in the summer of 2019, Sony lovers waited with anticipation to get their hands on the latest flagship model. Packed with a 61MP full-frame sensor, 15 stops of dynamic range, and a ridiculously fast focusing system, the a7R IV certainly holds its place amongst the boys and girls. Eventually released this September (read our first impressions), Sony shooters have only had a couple of months to put the camera through its paces. But even in such a short amount of time, plenty of photographers have created quality images with Sony a7R IV. And because weâre so selfless and loving, instead of keeping all these great photographers to ourselves, weâre going to share the best of them with you.

Tim Cornbill is a photographer based in Birmingham, England. Most notably he is a published author, as heâs the mastermind behind the popular photobook, Urban Photography. Timâs focus is mainly architecture and the broad urban landscape, but he also mixes it up with commercial work and astrophotography. We found this shot he took with Sony a7R IV of the moon particularly impressive. Itâs rich in detail and highlights another feather to his photographic bow.

Max first picked up a camera when he was 10 years old. Back then, he only had a disposable camera in his arsenal. However, in the present day, he has had access to the more sophisticated Sony a7R IV. Creating images either out of Berlin or some hot destination around the globe, Max has developed a beautiful style within the genres of automobiles, architecture, and landscape photography. And itâs his passion for these categories that makes his images so good. He pours his love into his work, and the outcome is deep, detailed, cinematic photography that is pleasing to the eye.
3. @fjhphoto
Based in South Texas, Francisco Joel Hernandez is a 28-year-old portrait photographer. Not only does he use the Sony a7R IV, but because his work is so good, heâs also an official Sony Ambassador. His portraits have an extremely professional feel to them. And itâs clear he knows his way around off-camera flash. His skills and expertise are so well regarded that he has been able to amount 58,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel, where you will find him sharing tips and tutorials on creating stunning photographs.
4. @jmdarter
Mike Darter is a nature and wildlife photographer. He brings with him over 40 years of experience in the photographic field – thatâs a lot of time spent taking photos! From Yellowstone to Alaska, Mike has lead photography tours with the paying public who want to learn to take pictures just like him. And we can see why. Heâs a very dedicated photographer whoâs prepared to put in the time and planning to get strong photographs. His most recent adventure to Mount Karacimbe particularly caught our eye. He came home with some gorgeous pictures of wild gorillas. Itâs emotive work and a great inspiration to the aspiring wildlife photographer.
5. @pege78
Peter Pagam – aka P78 – adores the Sony systems. Starting with a7R II, it was no surprise he would find his way to the Sony a7R IV. You can already find him putting it to work and building an impressive body of work. Based in Austria, Peter shows all its beautiful glory with his warm, autumnal nature shots that make us want to jump inside our laptop screens and visit it immediately. Right now, Peter is shooting photography as a side gig. If he keeps pushing further, we wonât be surprised if his photographic thrills are the only way he pays the bills.
