Hands on: Leica V-LUX 20

without comments

Upon a recent visit to the offices of Leica’s PR company in NYC, I was able to play with the Leica V-LUX 20 for a little while. Not long ago, a small review was completed based upon the Panasonic ZS-7, the camera that it is based off of. However, it also warned readers that at the time of writing it, I had not actually seen the V-LUX 20. So without further adieu, here is the preview.

Leica V-LUX 20 Review Based on The Panasonic ZS-7

with 5 comments

With the release of Leica’s new V-LUX 20 camera, it has quickly been deduced that it is really just a Panasonic ZS-7. Leica and Panasonic have a close relationship like this, as they have done previously with the LX-3 and the D-LUX 4 (the latter was reviewed here). The V-LUX 20, like the ZS-7 is aimed towards photography enthusiasts that tend to travel often and want to have a compact camera. Though I haven’t had time with the V-LUX 20 yet, one can expect that when reviews come out, they will be very similar to that of the ZS-7. That said, here’s a round-up of my ZS-7 field review postings and findings.

Field Review: Panasonic ZS-7 Final Day

without comments

I’ve spent some time shooting the Panasonic ZS-7 and will end the field review early for good reasons. First and foremost being that it is not a professional camera or even one of the super-high grade point and shoots. Second, it’s target audience will probably not care for some of the things mentioned previously such as noisy image quality. More on this all after the jump.

Field Review: Panasonic ZS-7 (Night 1)

without comments

The Panasonic ZS-7 and I took a stroll along midtown Manhattan yesterday to test out a couple of the features with the camera. It’s an interesting camera and has a couple of bells and whistles that would really stand out to people that love to travel often. As New York City is such a hot tourist spot, why not try it out there? More findings after the jump.

Hands On Review: Panasonic ZS-7

with 4 comments

Last week, the Panasonic folks invited me over for some personal fondling time with their cameras. The ZS-7 stood out the most to me because of the feature set and the types of cameras that the readers of this blog usually use (even more so than the TS2.) Though it isn’t the LX3, it is still quite an advanced camera, quite a beauty and loaded with all sorts of bells and whistles. More on this all after the jump.

Panasonic Announces New Update to Lumix Line

without comments

Today, Panasonic announced an update to their Lumix camera line. Amongst the updates are the TS2 and the ZS-7, which I have had hands-on time with. The cameras have some brand spankin’ new features to the lines such as Intelligence Zoom and others (more on these in the hands on articles.) Target audiences and main specs after the jump.
