Field Review: Olympus XZ-1 (Day 1)

We raved about the Olympus XZ-1 and we were very impressed with its bigger brother the EPL-2. Indeed, this camera will be undergoing the same review process that big brother did: testing it out as a professional’s camera for leisure use. Additionally, it will be going head to head with the Canon S95 and Leica D-LUX 5. So let’s begin this review.

Review: Eye-Fi Pro X2 SDHC Card

Announced almost a year ago, the super powerful Eye-Fi Pro X2 cards have recently been given a boost in the form of mobile sharing. While I haven’t demoed this feature yet, I have been using this card since Photo Plus of last year. It has been tested out in a variety of cameras with different results depending on the manufacturer and build of the camera. For the sake of timeliness, this review should have been completed a while ago but was delayed over and over again to ensure that we tested it correctly. In conclusion, depending on where your brand loyalty lies, you may want to snag one of these highly recommended items.

Field Review: Leica D-LUX 5 (Day 4)

The Leica D-LUX 5 is a camera that can be as fun as playing with a new puppy for photographers used to shooting DSLRs all day. I found this out the other night while going for a promenade around Manhattan. Once in a blue moon I need to get out, shoot, and clear my mind. However, I don’t always want to bring a messenger or camera bag with me. The ability to just slip this little powerhouse of a camera into my coat was just incredible.
