EXCLUSIVE: Hands on Review- Rokinon 8mm f2.8 Fisheye (Sony NEX)
After the company announced their new lens on Facebook, Rokinon let me try their brand new 8mm f2.8 fisheye lens for Sony NEX cameras. Since Sony sent me the 5n to review, I decided to also give this brand new piece of glass a quick run. This is a hands-on review and at the time of writing this, I’ve spent maybe 9 hours with the lens in my possession and a significantly less amount of time playing with it. Plus, it was raining in NYC quite hard.
Either way, I present to you the exclusive first hands on review with the new Rokinon 8mm f2.8 fisheye lens for Sony NEX digital cameras.
Hands on: Leica D-LUX 5
I previously talked about why you should buy the Leica D-LUX 5 over the Panasonic LX-5. A review unit is being rushed to me from Leica, but I finally got the opportunity to try this little camera out. From my first impressions at Photo Plus Expo 2010, I think that it very well could be the best point-and-shoot I’ve ever used.
Hands On Review: Pentax K-5
After seeing the Pentax 645D in action and getting samples from the the K-5 and 645D, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Pentax K-5is essentially a mini-645D with some different features.
Quick Hands On With the Canon 7DSV
When Canon finally came out and announced the 7D SV, photographers with special niche needs looked at it with interest. We were able to get photos of the menu shortly after that and here at Photo Plus Expo 2010 we got personal fondling time with the camera. Chuck Westfall and other PR reps gave me a quick tour.
Hands-On: Canon S95
Today, Canon announced the S95, the successor to the beautiful and wonderful S90camera that was a huge seller. The upgrade adds 720p HD video, art filters and higher ISO settings. I saw and held a rough working prototype a little over a month ago.
Editor’s Note: The Canon S95 is available for pre-order by clicking the links in this story at the time of writing this update. It will be available for order in late August.
Hands On: Pentax 645D
The other night, I got to play with the Pentax 645D—the one medium format camera that I had personally been waiting to try out for a while. Pentax was fairly popular back in the film days for medium format. Their lenses are well known as well as their bodies. Now that Pentax has entered the digital medium format stage, they have created what I would call quite the competitor and perhaps what may be the best medium format experience I have ever had of all the systems I’ve tried.
