Recently, Facebook took a better measure to protect people’s photos by incorporating Lightbox the way that Flickr does. This is a step in the right direction for many photographers, yes? Sure. But try this: click on a photo of some sort and wait for it to come up in Lightbox. Then hit refresh. I’m using Firefox, and it took me back to the old Facebook photo page that allowed me to pull the image from the site if I wanted to.
So photographers: does this mean that you’re just going to work on building your pageviews on Flickr instead?

Announced almost a year ago, the super powerful Eye-Fi Pro X2 cards have recently been given a boost in the form of mobile sharing. While I haven’t demoed this feature yet, I have been using this card since Photo Plus of last year. Leica announced today that their S-system is getting its own Facebook page. I was able to get some hands-on time with the S2 and actually was really impressed with it. In addition to offering fans the opportunity to register for S-System demos, the page specifically highlights news, tips and features of the S-System, a completely new digital camera concept that meets supreme professional photography requirements.
This makes me wonder if we should be expecting a special edition of the S2 during Photokina.

Chances are that if you’re reading this posting that you are a photographer and use Facebook. Why not? It’s a great tool to use for your business. However, many photographers and people that know photographers don’t read Facebook’s Terms of Use. The reason for this—too much to read and not enough understanding of what it means. As a former college radio president, I’m used to reading through such terms of content use and even creating them. That said, here’s what Facebook’s Terms of Use mean.
