Hands On Review: Samsung NX200 and 85mm f1.4

by Chris Gampat on September 1, 2011

With today’s announcement of the Samsung NX200 digital camera, I can now officially say that I had some personal fondling time with the camera. While they’re not a name that you hear as often as those of Olympus, Panasonic Sony and Sony does Samsung seem to have a winner with the NX200? Especially with new lenses just announced too?

Review: Olympus 12mm F2 Lens on the EP2

by Chris Gampat on July 12, 2011

After our review of the Olympus EP3 and 12mm F2, requests came in asking about how the lens performs on older cameras. We’ve already seen that it performs very well on the Olympus EP3 (also called the E-P3, EP-3, and EP 3). For some real world testing, I took the Olympus 12mm F/2 and mated it with the Olympus EP2 while walking around Coney Island, NY—in the rain! So did the dynamic duo survive?

by Mike Pouliot on April 11, 2011

Sigma 85mm F/1.4

EXIF Data: ISO 100, 1/500 sec, F/2.0

If you’ve been following this review of the Sigma 85mm F/1.4, then today is probably the day that most people have been waiting for…portrait day. I enjoy taking portraits but, for the most part, my family and friends aren’t too fond of me sticking a camera in their face and then posting photographs of them up on the The Phoblographer.com. Oh, well…they are going to have to deal. You can also catch up on Day 1 and Day 2 in the according links.

The Complete Bokeh Masters Kit Review

by Gevon Servo on November 21, 2010

Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.013 sec (1/80) Aperture f/1.8 Focal Length 50 mm ISO Speed 320

Early on in my photography days, when I wanted bokeh in my shots all I had was simple circles. I am not complaining. I love the aesthetic quality of the blur in images. The discovery of shaping that blur with the Bokeh Masters Kit was such a pleasant surprise. It is far above and beyond what I was expecting. It was fun to learn, and even more fun to push the boundaries of my own photography skills with it. Shooting with the Bokeh Masters kit gave me a better understanding of light and the ability to take some trippy images and video.
