Lomography has been a champion of film and analog photography for some time now, and their latest product, the Lomo Instant Square Camera is just another example of that. But to make their Kickstarter campaign for the Instant Square camera even more enticing they have upped the antie, announcing a new back for the camera that allows it to use standard Instax Mini film as well as the Instax square film it was designed for! This is a great development, because to this point, we aren’t aware of another camera that can shoot both formats natively. The Lomo Instant Square features a compact, foldable design with bellows: a nice call back to the old days of compact folding cameras. It is also a 100% analogue camera, with no digital interface whatsoever, making this a nice blend between the old days and the new.
The Kickstarter for the Lomo Instant Square has been over their funding goal since about 5 hours after it launched, so the project is going to happen for sure – and if you are interested in it you may want to jump on it as soon as possible because you will save up to 35% off the expected retail price of the camera.
But in terms of the big news of the day, this new Instax Mini Back announcement is so killer. Lomo is saying that the add-on would cost just an additional $15, which is a steal considering this would save you from having to buy another camera to use regular Instax Mini film.
If you are interested in learning more about the Lomo Instant Square or you want to get in on it with the new back option then you can get all of the details you need over on their Kickstarter Campaign page, here.
