Panasonic has quite a bit on the docket today, and not to go unnoticed is the new GX850, a compact Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera the company is billing as “the ultimate high performance compact mirrorless camera for selfie-takers.” The new camera features a 16MP Live MOS sensor with a max ISO of 25,600 and a tiltable ‘selfie’ 3 inch touch screen LCD.
Those looking for a quality vlogging camera may want to give the GX850 a look as the camera will not only be great for stills, but will also feature Panasonic’s incredible 4K video technology. That, combined with the tilting selfie screen, will make the GX850 the perfect camera for sticking on a tripod or holding for some vlog action.
The selfie mode on this camera will also feature some in-camera beauty and retouching controls, a’la snapchat/instagram filters. An interesting attempt by the company at competing or mimicking what their target demographic is doing on their smartphones.
In terms of AF capability, the GX850 will make use of Panasonic’s crazy fast and accurate DFD technology, allowing the camera to focus in as fast as .07 seconds.
Panasonic says that the camera will be available in early February of 2017 and should retail in the neighborhood of $549.99.
