Portrait, wildlife, and sports photographers will be thrilled to learn that Nikon has announced the latest update to its hugely popular, widely used 70-200mm line with the new 70-200mm F/2.8E FL ED.
One of the Nikon ‘Holy Trinity’, the Nikkor 70-200mm F/2.8 line has long been one of Nikon’s most popular lenses for a wide variety of professional photographers. This new version features an all new SWM (Silent Wave Motor) AF Motor; the latest Nikon VR technology which the company claims is capable of up to four stops of image stabilization.
The new optical design of this 70-200mm features six ED elements, one Flourite element, and a high refractive element – as well as Nikon’s Nano Crystal and Fluorine coatings to enhance image quality and make lens cleaning easier.
As you would also expect from Nikon’s professional level lenses, this 70-200mm F/2.8E FL ED is also fully weather and dust resistant and feature an all metal construction. Nikon says to expect the lens to ship in November, retailing for $2,799.95.
A New PC 19mm Tilt-Shift As Well
Also announced with the 70-200mm was a brand new Perspective Control (PC) 19mm F/4E ED Tilt-Shift, their widest PC lens to date. A notable point about this new tilt-shift from Nikon is the ability to tilt the lens parallel or perpendicular to the shift; the first Nikon PC Tilt-Shift to have that capability.
Architectural, landscape, and interior photographers will be pleased to hear that the PC 19mm F/4E ED Tilt-Shift also features Nikon’s Nano Crystal and Fluorine coatings as well as weather sealing.
Nikon also expect the 19mm F/4E ED to ship in November and will retail for $3,399.95.
