Since Canon has a high megapixel full frame DSLR at the moment, it only makes sense for them to make something that’s a bit of a combination of the 7D Mk II and the 1Dx Mk II for the next 5D camera. According to Canon Rumors, they’re stating that the features are going to be fairly conservative though just right for what sports photographers and photojournalists really need.
Though the admin doesn’t believe them to be likely, here are the specs.
- 24.2MP Sensor
- 61 AF Points (41 crosstype)
- DIGIC 7+ (Single)
- 7fps
- ISO 100-51,200 (expandable options)
- 3.2″ touchscreen LCD
- CFast/SD card slots
- Wifi built-in
- GPS built-in
- BG-E20 battery grip
- LP-E20 battery
- Slight weight reduction
The touchscreen makes no sense unless they’re doing it in the same way that the 1Dx Mk II does it. However the modest megapixel bump, new processor and 7fps drive sounds about right for the sports photography and photojournalism crowd. It’s bound to win the hearts of wedding photographers if these specs are indeed true.
