Normal people use lasers to annoy their cats. Not the guys from Triggertrap. They put a laser in their latest gadget so you can photograph the precise moment your cat jumps off the shelf. Or a balloon gets hit by a dart. Or a glass bottle shatters. What has so far only been possible with special equipment is now on its way to your camera bag, thanks to Triggertrap’s latest Kickstarter funding campaign.
The item that Triggertrap is seeking funding for is called the ‘Redsnap’. What makes it so special besides the laser (which, again, is not meant to be used to annoy your cat) is the fact that the trigger is completely modular, which means you can use as few or as many different triggers as you like, or as your project requires.
The base of the Redsnap is capable of quite a lot of things on its own: timelapse photography, long-exposure HDR sets, and a star-trail mode, to name a few. However, the base can be extended, for example by the above mentioned laser trigger module, by an audio trigger module, by a high speed light sensor, or by a passive infrared sensor, for those times when you want to be extra sneaky.
A full description of the product is available at the Kickstarter site, including a list of what you’ll get for what amount of backing. And if you’re at all into remote triggering your camera or flash, then you will want to back this. Because, a laser.
