According to Sony Alpha Rumors, there is a big new player in the speed booster world. As a refresher, Metabones did something that Zeiss did many years ago–they created an adapter that not only widens the focal length of a lens but as gives it an extra stop of light. Metabones recently created tons of stir in the photo world with it and they even announced that it will be coming to Micro Four Thirds soon (it is already available for Fuji X and Sony NEX). But the Chinese factories have probably received a copy and are now apparently copying it. A new company called Mitakon may allegedly make it more affordable.
This is going to be an interesting battle. The Chinese tend to really eat into sales when it comes to photography accessories, and this one will be worth the while to watch.
