We reported on the TrekPak a while back, but as a refresher it is a camera bag system that got its start on KickStarter. Unique to the system is the dividers that don’t use velcro but instead clip together–which is a lot simpler and quieter.

Seeing the need to sometimes slice and dice the dividers, the company has created a multi purpose cutting tool specifically designed for their dividers. It includes stainless steel blades and a carbiner loop. Why the company didn’t include a bottle opener: totally beats me. But photographers party enough, right?

The new tool will begin shipping with new bags in March and if you have the bags already, you’ll be offered an introductory discount.

Working in the sign-making industry we used that corrugated plastic board all the time, though without the foam layers shown here, and I saw plenty of those tools designed for cutting it. They never seemed to work very well for large-scale use though, everyone just used Stanley knives with disposable blades.

I’m sure for small-scale, once-in-a-while uses like this it’ll work just fine, but for cutting hundreds of feet every day a good solid knife just works better. Besides, a knife can cut across the board as well as along it ;)
