The Guide to Telephoto Zoom Lenses for Non-Professionals
Telephoto lenses are those considered to be around 70mm and greater. They come in both zooms, primes, variable apertures and fixed apertures. Inspired by an email from a reader letter, we’ve decided to come up with a bunch of tips for non-professional photographers who want to become better.

How To Beat The Darkness in a Nightclub
The other night, my good buddy Mike Florio and I shot a concert (photos and video) for the band Mancie. It was a favor for my other friend, Andrea Fischman, who leads that band and is a fellow photographer. Andrea wanted me to do a couple of portraits of her, her friend and the band. This was at around 8pm at night, and it was super dark—perhaps one of the darkest venues I’ve shot in. However, I was able to beat the darkness with a single speedlite and by making the most of it by placing it in the right spots. Here’s how I did it and how you can figure out how to do this as well.

Field Review: Sony A55 (Day 1)
Ever since Sony introduced the NEX series, specifically the NEX-5, I’ve been keeping a closer eye on Sony‘s photographic offerings. Like it or hate it, the NEX-5 is a pretty amazing camera. A full APS-C sensor in a body smaller than many point and shoot cameras. Brilliant! So I thought, if the NEX-5 is such a great camera, let’s see what they can do with a “normal” sized DSLR. Enter the Sony A55.
Hands On: Impact Powersync16 DC Radio Triggers
The Impact Powersync16s are a reliable, well built, and powerful wireless trigger set for those that want wireless flash control at a decent price. I’ve been testing them for a short period and though I do not feel like I’ve given them a full run-through yet, they are definitely something worth talking about again.
Photography from the Shoe Level
Often overlooked, but extremely important is a photographer’s footwear. I am by no means vain. I pride myself in being perpetually out of fashion. Nonetheless, I do understand proper shoes. A huge part of photography is being on our feet. We are either photo walking, doing long photo shoots in studios, or shooting landscapes. Most of the time we are walking or standing. 25% of your body’s bones are in your feet. If your feet are uncomfortable, it will affect your photography eventually, mostly affecting your stamina or your mood.

Reasons Why The Sony NEX-C3 May Be Really Awesome
It isn’t official (yet) but some very convincing photos and specs published by Sony Alpha Rumors have lead me to believe that the Sony NEX-C3 may indeed be real. I’ve reviewed the Sony NEX-5 and admitted that the image quality was great but that the interface and ergonomics weren’t the best. These same feelings stayed true to the NEX-VG10, despite the fact that I once again agreed that it has great image quality. But here are some reasons why the NEX-C3 may be really awesome if it is indeed real.
