The Nikon D3100 takes great pictures but let us not forget it shoots video also. On this entry level DSLR, we get HD Video. The Nikon D3100creates 1080p video and gives decent results under ideal settings. It makes 1,920 x 1080 (Full HD) 24p (23.976fps) files by default. The camera also shoots in frames sizes down to 40 x 424 (SD) 24p (23.976fps) All modes give a maximum recording time of 10 minutes.

Shooting video on the Nikon D3100 is as easy as pushing the lever around the record button. This sets the camera into live view then you just have to hit record. The audio is recorded by an internal mono microphone sound quality was okay.
Moving horizontally, the Nikon D3100 in motion on a train, I recorded a video with it on a small tripod to keep it steady in front of the window. When the train moved faster everything bent sideways as if the camera was warping time and space.
If the Nikon D3100 was still and the subject was moving, there was no bend.
The White balance was set to auto and going through the polarized window of a train. The Nikon D3100‘s video mode would be good for the visual arts student with a low budget. A person is not going to shoot the next big movie with this camera, but an ambitious attempt at a short film would work out nicely. A family can easily capture memories with this camera.
